Finally!

Well, it finally happened! After 11 months on the market, we have managed to sell our house!!! All paperwork and financial transactions took place on Saturday. The week before this was spent moving everything out - it's amazing how much stuff you collect over time.

We have made an offer on a townhouse about 5 miles from the old house and the offer was accepted. We have a tentative closing date of August 24th. Now we're busy picking out appliances and paint colors. Chaz keeps trying to talk me into letting him paint his walls red or black.

Pictures to follow sometime soon!

Great Faces, Great Places - South Dakota

Hot!!! That is the first word that comes to mind when we look back over our recent trip to South Dakota for the soccer tournament. With temperatures reaching triple digits (103 on Saturday) we were trying to find ways to stay cool which wasn't always easy.

We left Thursday afternoon and returned about 5:30 Monday night. Chaz played in four soccer games, taking third in the tournament. This left plenty of time to do some sight seeing.

First up was a trip to Sheridan Lake - which wasn't our original destination, but turned out to be a great time. The coaches and boys rented a pontoon boat and set off for a two hour excursion to explore the area. Unfortunately, the pontoon's battery died about an hour into the trip and they had to be towed into shore.

Then we hit the Cosmo's Mystery Area where balls appeared to roll uphill and two people appear to change height!

Sunday afternoon found us at the Sitting Bull Crystal Caverns. This was by far the "coolest" attraction - the cave is a wonderful 45 degrees and shows the world's largest dog tooth spar crystal.

After visiting the cavern we headed up the road to Mount Rushmore. What a sight this is. Chaz and I took the walking tour around the facility and were able to see the memorial from several different angles. We also got to see one of the original compressors that was used to do the carvings as well as peeking inside the sculpture studio. The history behind Mount Rushmore is very interesting.

Sunday night we had dinner with friends and were able to do a bit of exploring in downtown Rapid City.

All in all it was a great trip!

Rushmore Cup Soccer Tournament

We have just arrived home from a soccer tournament in South Dakota - Chaz's soccer team, the Cosmo's, took 3rd place in their bracket. Chaz scored the first goal of the tournament (along with another in the second game) which was pretty exciting!

Preparing for High School

With middle school behind him, Chaz is preparing for the next phase in his life - high school. I find myself wondering where the time has gone, and how it's possible that he has grown up so fast!

He will be busy this summer with strength and condition three times a week and soccer kick-arounds once a week to train for fall soccer.

8th Grade Continuation

June 6, 2007

Well, middle school has come to an end. Chaz is now officially a high school student. He participated in the Century Middle School 8th Grade continuation on June 6, 2007 at Horizon High School.

What an amazing experience middle school was! He made new friends and has grown up so much over the last three years.

One of the most important accomplishments he made was making the honor roll for every trimester from 6th grade to 8th grade!

Ft. Collins Arsenal Shootout

June 8 - 10, 2007

Chaz was invited to guest play on another Westminster AFC soccer team the weekend of June 8th. The tournament was played about 50 miles north of Denver in Ft. Collins. The weather was perfect for the games - two on Friday, one on Saturday and two more on Sunday. The team did exceptionally well, winning all five of the games and taking first place in their age bracket!
